Ardmore Mediterranean Kitchen

This kitchen on the main line was a feat of engineering. Our team designed and managed the home renovation combining two uneven rooms while removing a chimney between them. Extensive structural work and steel beams are all hidden in the walls and ceiling, resulting in one large room with a cohesive look and feel. The navy blue island and wet bar give a sophisticated contrast to traditional custom cabinetry and a fun mediterranean backsplash.

Wyndmoor Transitional Kitchen

This young family wanted to open the floorplan and modernize their historic stone colonial home in Springfield Township. We introduced contemporary materials and a bold floor to distinguish the kitchen, then matched historical moldings and added grasscloth in the dining room to enhance the original detailing. Playful wallpaper brightens the hallway and a deep blue mudroom maximizes storage. Walnut and brass accents appear throughout the house to unify new and old spaces.

Lower Merion Kitchen Remodel

The wishlist for this Lower Merion kitchen remodel included luxury appliances, custom upholstery, and a spacious bar for entertaining. Our clients love traditional styling and wanted the space to feel stylish and rich with detail. They tasked our designers with choosing top of the line materials that were both durable and beautiful.

This large kitchen had been expanded into a garage space by a previous owner. The room included two different ceiling heights, a large support beam, and a concrete slab under half of the space. Our interior design team unified the space with herringbone wood floors, custom cabinets, and rift white oak millwork. All furniture, cushions, and window coverings were designed and managed by the Airy Kitchens team. A powder room was also renovated as part of this project.

Main Line Traditional Kitchen

The owners of this charming english cottage style home planned to open up their entire first floor, but ultimately wanted to keep the kitchen in a small corner of the house. They asked us to make the existing space feel as large as possible and to add cabinetry to the family room for extra storage. Our team designed custom cabinets that created symmetry and added unique details and charm throughout the kitchen. A tall refrigerator is hidden behind distressed oak paneling with arched doors. The subway tiles wrap the window opening for a seamless and vintage look.

In the family room our wet bar includes a wine fridge, paneled refrigerator drawers, and upper cabinets fit with reclaimed vintage glass. The new peninsula adds seating, storage, and a second oven. Adjacent recessed cabinets hide small appliances and baking supplies. Of all the details in this layered space, we think the rounded open shelves near the sink are the best. So much vintage charm!

Philly Contemporary Kitchen

For this Philly row house we were hired to design a contemporary kitchen in a small footprint using sustainable materials and eco-friendly appliances. The homeowners wanted to open a pass-through into the dining room, but preferred that room keep it’s historic charm. With some layout changes we were able to maximize work space, gain easy access to a big window and add storage to both rooms. Our interior design team developed an earthy palette of natural wood, soap stone counters, and hand-made zellige tiles. Every inch was detailed to add utility including floating shelves, a deep window sill, two sided cabinets, and a towel rod near the radiator for toasty towels! Our custom cabinets were used in a natural rift oak and a painted finish on the dining side.

Ardmore Eclectic Kitchen

Our clients were two biologists who study the coastal wetlands of the southeastern United States. At home, they are busy with two young kids and always tight on space. The goal in this home was to open up the first floor and create an eclectic kitchen with lots of storage. Our clients hoped to save some original built-ins and use eco friendly materials and products. In the rear addition they wanted an additional space for work and relaxation.

Our interior design team sourced new windows, furniture, lighting, and fsc certified flooring to match the existing dining room floors. Airy Kitchens shaker overlay cabinets were designed in a custom color with copper hardware. When our clients found the perfect wallpaper (it reminded them of the mangroves), we designed cushions to match. Finally, the Airy Kitchens project managers assembled an expert team of builders and oversaw every detail. The finished kitchen feels bright, cozy, and fits perfectly in the home.

Cabinet Possibilities in Philadelphia

This kitchen in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia shows off what is possible with our ready-made cabinets. We’ve used multiple door styles and moldings in three of our standard colors. Custom elements like leaded glass, rounded corbels, and custom cushions all dress up these cabinets and fill the room with joy.

Our clients home was in need of major repairs and the entire space was redesigned and rebuilt. During our initial consultation we noticed old rusty cast iron panels in the basement and we knew they would be great behind the range. When we asked about reviving and incorporating the firebacks as part of the kitchen the homeowners were ecstatic. The new kitchen combines vintage charm with lots of storage and plenty of seating. This custom look was also made affordable with our New England ready-made cabinets.

The green hutch is colonial inset doors in our sage leaf paint. The remaining cabinets are shaker inset doors in Blue Herron paint and leather stain on cherry wood. All materials and hardware were sourced and purchased for our clients as part of our project management service.

West Mt Airy Open Concept

Originally this kitchen was accessible only through a narrow butlers pantry, but our clients envisioned an open floor plan that combined the kitchen and dining room. We opened walls between all three rooms and created an open plan that respected the historical character of this handsome home. The butlers pantry is now a wet bar and coffee station with vibrant wallpaper. The kitchen features vintage brass pendant lights, a 36” Wolf range, and a custom stained walnut countertop. Off the kitchen is a small pantry where we added reclaimed floating shelves and a bit more wall paper.

The cabinets are Shaker Overlay style from our New England line. They are painted in our ‘Midnight’ paint color. Quartz counters, concrete tile floors, and solid brass hardware all create a vintage look that’s built to last a lifetime.

Philly Rowhouse Kitchen

The picture window and original pocket doors were the only items worth saving in this South Philadelphia row house kitchen. Our interior designers were tasked with creating a classic space that fit the existing room, maximized storage, and looked luxurious. The homeowners originally hoped to reopen an original doorway into the front hall and were considering painted cabinets. Through our design process, we helped them envision a space that opened up their kitchen to the hallway without sacrificing the lower cabinets and counter workspace. We shared an inspiration image of an all wood kitchen and they fell in love.

The Airy Kitchens project management team was contracted to help build this project. We ordered all materials, provided architectural drawings, and managed contractors during construction. Special details included rehabbing the pocket doors, installing a new radiator, sourcing antique glass, and installing Morris wallpaper. The resulting kitchen is both beautiful and functional with classic style and a modern layout.

Wayne Contemporary Kitchen

This creekside home on Philadelphia's main line had a dark and dated kitchen with an adjacent breakfast area. Our clients wanted a remodel that would add island seating and give their 90's home a contemporary update. An Airy Kitchens interior designer created a modern layout that added counter seating for six and provided tons of organized storage. Shaker Overlay cabinets in ‘Midnight’ paint were paired with upper cabinets painted in ‘Crisp White’.

To warm up the space we chose a new floor stain, sourced local reclaimed lumber for floating shelves, and found the perfect leather barstools. An unused desk area was upgraded to a wine and coffee bar. A simple white herringbone backsplash gives a contemporary texture throughout the space. We think the kitchen renovation gave this home a layered, contemporary look that will look classic for many years to come.

Art deco in Ardmore

We were tasked with redesigning two bathrooms for a stylish couple in Ardmore. They wanted both bathrooms to be black and white and requested a vintage art deco aesthetic to match the age of their 1920's home. The primary bath was tight on space, so we focused on a bright and open layout. Work included removing a wall that separated the shower and removing a narrow closet that we replaced with a built-in hutch.

In the guest bath we closed two doorways that previously opened to adjoining bedrooms and used the new wall space to add a double vanity and an extra storage hutch. We kept the original corner tub, but changed the spout location so the homeowners could both use the tub together.

Main Line Vintage Bathroom

After renovating her kitchen with us, our client decided to remodel her main line bathroom too. She was inspired by the historic tile that existed, but knew a layout change would probably call for a total gut. She wanted to keep the vintage vibe, but update the layout for storage and accessibility.

Before, this bathroom in Ardmore squeezed in a tub, pedestal sink, toilet, and a cramped dark shower stall, but it lacked any storage. By removing the tub we were able to fit a large vanity with storage, a shower with bench, and a small hutch for even more bathroom storage. The patterned tile floor, colorful wallpaper, and vintage inspired fixtures work to create a historical bathroom design that offers a clean and modern feel.

Chestnut Hill Fishy Bathroom

Our clients wanted a fun fresh space that paid homage to their time living in Hong Kong. We used blue herringbone tile to designate water spaces, built a big walnut frame with extra shelf over the sinks, and added a towel warmer for toasty towels. In the wet room we included a soaking tub and large ceiling mounted rain head shower. Carrara marble trims the tile, shower niche, and tub.

Dreamy Kids Bath

This little bathroom is big on personality and perfect for two young kids to grow up in. A vanity with large drawers and a medicine cabinet offer ample storage. Wood-look wall tile is charming and durable. We used ledges along walls and took advantage of all the space under the eaves.
